Breaking your own record:
As you approach your personal best, hands tend to become sweaty and shaking. Relax! Pause the game and take a break. Wash your hands and dry them. :) Resume playing after a while. It will feel as if you have just started a new game; hence, the chances of breaking your record are higher.
Say your high score is 25K. Pause between 15K-20K (always pause when standing on a green platform to avoid the worst). Resume after 5 minutes. Chances are with you. In that manner and by raising your high score little by little, you gain confidence, which will eventually increase the pausing intervals (i.e. initially if you need to pause every 10K to make the target, eventually this will increase to every 50K, 100K and so on). I think this helps a lot.
Competitive environment:
Another thing that helps is to get your best buddy to play along. This would make things a lot more competitive, thus giving you additional motive to break the other’s high score and so on. As a matter of fact, that’s how it all started with me.
A sticky situation:
One of the hardest situations of the game is the one I’ve captured here. The hole in the middle has become a nightmare numerous times, which is very annoying at higher scores. The tips for this case are as follows:
- Initially, always step on the bottom green platform and keep bouncing on it. It is very important to avoid the lower moving platform in the first place, as it is likely to lead you to an unpleasant death (i.e. hole).
- While bouncing on the bottom green one this will move the situation a bit higher. Keep bouncing on the bottom green one, as it is still there (though not clearly visible).
- It is time to shoot the monster! Once you’ve done that, wait for the right timing when both moving platforms are to the left of your screen, and then keep on doodling like a gentleman/madam. :)
It’s a very tricky situation but it should be all right after a few games.

[...] DoodleJump is a 59p/99c app from the Apple Appstore, for iPhones and iPod Touches. It involves tilting the iPod to direct a “Doodler” onto blocks. The aim is to get as high as possible. Most players get pathetic scores around 20,000. Pros like myself and my friends get 90,000+ and sad gamers get 2,000,000. (See here) [...]
