Experiment with different places to play doodle jump. Different postures and places where you sit may enable you to achieve a higher score. More importantly than just the environment where you play is your hand positioning. I started out playing by using just one hand. My scores went up immediately after I switched to both hands. As seen in the picture, I use my right hand to hold the Ipod touch and somewhat control the game while my right hand fine tunes the results, shoots, and move the doodle jump guy faster and more erratically if needed. Again, discover whatever environment and hand positioning works best for you.
Game-ender situations
In most cases, certain scenarios cause your game to end more than others. All the areas in the game repeat in the same order throughout the entire game starting at 20k and repeating about every 90k. If there are certain situations that bother you then remember the area right before it.(Note: This is only useful if your high score is at least 100k+) To the right is a monster that has ended a few of my high scoring games. I always remember where this monster is. When I know this monster is coming up I prepare to shoot and try to avoid the springs. If you have to jump on the springs, jump towards the middle of the screen while shooting straight up as fast as you can.
The “triple ufo” scenario can also be quite difficult. If you hear the ufo sound and there are no green platforms above you then you know that this is the “triple ufo” scene. Immediately start shooting like crazy all over the screen. While you’re shooting keep on looking at the blue platforms and only take a brief glance upward to see if the ufo’s are gone.(Directional shooting is not completely necessary but will make the game much easier at this part.)
Final Tips
Try to pinpoint the causes of your deaths. If it’s certain “monsters areas” that kill you try to figure out a strategy that enables you to get past that area without dying. If it’s blue platforms that are getting to you should try a different hand position. Once you approach a high score try to not look at your score and just focus on the game. Sometimes, it just takes time to get a higher score.

Great tips! In fact, last night I actually got up and moved to another chair mid game to get more comfortable. It helped me get to my third-highest score — 206K!
; ) that is one way to observe it ;)
